Sedgefield is the last exit before the playoffs, and it usually rewards someone who needs it. This time it rewarded a man who was 105th and had nothing to lose.

Brennan never shot worse than 66, went 63-64 on the weekend, and matched the tournament record at 258, three clear of Beau Hossler. He started the week 105th in the FedExCup and ended it 47th, which is a strange way to describe a season, and he picked up a Masters invitation on the way through.

Contest Winners

Daryl M. put up -76 in the 13-player Wyndham Championship contest and won by six, with Tom D. and Jaime B. tied behind him at -70. Josh A. took the Clark Championship by three.

The Bubble Had One Real Lever

Sedgefield was billed as last-chance week. The top-70 line barely moved. One player forced his way in: Brennan, 105th to 47th. One got pushed out: Steven Fisk, home Friday after missing the cut. Everyone else grinding was decoration. Matt Wallace went 64-65 on the weekend, tied for seventh, and climbed from 80th to 73rd. Beau Hossler opened with a 61, finished second, and still ended the year 72nd. Jackson Koivun held the last spot by about eight points. Keegan Bradley tied for 49th and ended a streak of 14 straight playoff appearances. Brooks Koepka finished 94th and called it “pretty pathetic.” At the bubble, a win is the only lever that actually moves.
