Harris English sits out the final day of the Ryder Cup thanks to the withdrawal rule
Harris English was getting ready to start his warmup for singles play at the Ryder Cup on Sunday when the message came that he was not participating, after all. Europe's Viktor Hovland withdrew because of a neck injury, and, by rule, the U.S. had to designate a player to also sit out, with the match being ruled a tie and each team getting a half-point. Inside an envelope, captain Keegan Bradley had written English's name, so the 36-year-old was relegated to the role of spectator.

In close Ryder Cup loss, Keegan Bradley singles out Bethpage Black course setup as mistake
Asked what he might have done differently in a Ryder Cup that got away early, before getting really close late, U.S. captain Keegan Bradley focused on the way he set up the course at Bethpage Black. In searching for answers for a 15-13 loss that turned out to be much closer than anyone expected, it was all the decisions Bradley made — not just one of them — that will fall under the microscope when the post-mortem on Sunday's loss is conducted. Or his insistence on sticking with a plan that paired Harris English and Collin Morikawa not once, but twice, then putting English's name in the envelope, forcing him to sit out Sunday when Viktor Hovland pulled out with an injury?

Shane Lowry silences his fat-shamers in a victory for the everyman
Shane Lowry would be few people’s idea of a modern-day athlete, with his well-upholstered physique and occasional penchant for a Guinness or 10.
